Solid purple check: saved to the cloud and safe on all your devices.
Outlined gray check: saved on this device only. It uploads on its own when you're back online.
Tap a name to fix its spelling on every note. Renaming to a name that's already listed merges the two.
The short version: your notes are yours, and we count taps, not people.
Your notes. When you sign in with Google, the app gets your name, email address and a Google account ID. Your notes are stored in Google Firebase under that account, and the database only lets your signed-in account read or change them. A copy is also kept on your device so the app works with no signal.
Scripture. When you add a verse, its reference (like John 3:16) is sent to bible-api.com to fetch the text. Nothing about you goes with it.
Anonymous usage. We count which screens get opened and which buttons get tapped, like starting a note, inserting a verse or searching. Each batch carries a random ID your phone makes up, and it changes every day. It isn't linked to your Google account, so it can't be traced back to you.
What usage counts never include. Your name, email, note text, titles, speakers, verses, searches, location or device details.
Why. To learn which features are actually useful, so the app gets better where it matters.
How to opt out. Turn off Share Anonymous Usage just below. Nothing is collected or sent while it's off.
No ads, no selling. Your notes and account details are never sold, shared or used for ads. Daryl, who runs the app, could technically see the database but doesn't read anyone's notes.
Deleting. Delete any note from the menu inside it. To have your account and all your notes removed, ask Daryl.
Simple Sermon Notes is a free personal project.
